Heart

The shore with all its pebbled secrets
offered me a perfect heart in glass
stolen from near a bottle's rim green
as an emerald presented as a mark
of the weathering craft a gift
a kindness laid between those hollows
where footfalls cratered and revealed
lost fragments of things once whole
brick birds magma shells my soul
