Like a Japanese Woodcut

Early spring orchard, oblique light under
western sun winnowed by late-storm
clouds, solidifies geometry of dark trunks
grown thick-waisted, bark soaked,
swelled by rain, moss on soil
hysterical green, incandescent,
small red blossoms, everything a-tremble.

Picture the Spirit

Draw a triangle, a circle, erase them.
Don't stop to think. Lips are near
my ear, saying what's tucked tight
into the spiral that begins
where I begin, so small it cannot
differentiate itself from the is not or the is.
