Icelandic ponies crowd the fence
to watch the stranger running up their road.
They could not name his difference.
He might represent food. He might be dead
for the dead too travel this road. The Icelandic
ponies are curious now, today, for the dead
make no noise. The road itself is silent too.
For both, the silence is also home.
